I sympathize with Liz because it must've been frustrating how the lyrics were such an issue and excessive interest for people. As if with her voice there needs to be any meaning beyond what it's Doing. She's always been an artist and her voice is an instrument of expression whether she's decipherable or not. You don't hear like piano players being hassled about what all those notes are supposed to 'mean'. You just shut the fuck up and listen!

I'm not suprised to hear her stammer and pause a lot, that seems to be just how she is - I have a CT's interview on vinyl from the 80s and shes fairly quiet in that too - though she rips out some classic swearing at one point!
