I found this out after buying a used set and an EVX-2 off ebay, I ran them side by side in an old Kyosho Jetstream 800 Boat with out a problem, I just lost slight potential by the little bit of drag the reverse motor had by the timing difference. Boat got up to 30 ish mph with this set up and a speed prop

Long can (550-sized) motors will have a hard time fitting in between the gearbox and the stock suspension arms....

You should install the HPI GT 550 motors or the Titan 550 motors. They provide much more speed and torque

its about 3 degrees advanced from what Traxxas support told me, and yes they come standard and reverse rotation. E-maxx has 2 standard, and e-revo has 1 standard and 1 reverse.

I had to notch the control arms to fit the Titan 550's in mine, its pretty quick, but still I want more out of it. Also running an EVX-2

Those Titan 550s have timing advance, though, right? Or they make a reverse rotation version too?
