@zappajohn When will the people working for low wages simply refuse the deal from the west? Shouldn't we tell them, "Refuse to work for the corporations!"? Back when they were poor & agrarian (before we westerners began to exploit them) there was no "corporate overlord" forcing them to work, was there? Any nation that grows it's population beyond it's means is begging for foreign corporate exploitation, right? Return to the farm, and stop making babies. Say "No!" it's almost that simple. (grin)

@ruralrant Stop blathering about the criminal element. You enjoy a high standard of living based on the fact that millions of people working for low wages around the world produce goods for you. The G8 facilitates this. Now that is criminal.

We in the West squander most of the world's resources. For conditions to improve in the rest of the world, our standard of living will have to go down.

The G8 will not let this happen. They want to keep poor countries in debt without bankrupting them

Well, you call this a riot? You haven't seen a real riot. And the riot will be a tax riot. Wait when the economic crisis really hits. Wait when people in large numbers, millions, go broke thanks to the corrupt corporations, Wall Street, the Federal Reserve, the IMF bankrupting the world and pocketing the money. You are going to see more riots and a greater police state taking away your rights. And those of you who criticise the protestors, wait when the collpase arrives. You too will protest!

Which of the world's wrongs do you think you can right by smashing the windows of hard working merchants or burning police cars in Toronto? The protesters who marched lawfully were naive, to say the least. The criminal element, who went there to cause trouble, should be in jail. It's great that you care about 3rd world countries. Volunteer, go there, and see how you can help. Try protesting there!

@zappajohn - You're right. A lot of people don't see the point in a protest like this. And those people might as well go suck some status-quo dick straightaway. There should bigger protests than this every day in Washington and on Wall Street. The cops are there to make it seem easier to sit at home and accept whatever those in power want to do with the world. And the ignorant and the complacent and the cowardly fall right in line. Pathetic. Get educated and get real, people.
