  • I've always been scared to get into MYST...... plus I think the faqs temptation might be too great

  • The version I played here has some built-in hints that keep you from having to do that. I think you'll be able to get through MYST if you're patient. Riven is a different matter. You'd really have to be a genius or extremely patient to get through that one without hints. Even with hints, it can be tricky. I'd probably start off with the first one or Myst IV if you want to get into it.

  • Myst is like Marmite. you either love it or hate it. Me I love Myst, brings back memories of playing on my old PC with my first CD-Rom Drive... noisy bloody thing.

Also Think the music on myst is fantastic!

  • I remember back in the 90s everyone I knew was raving about this game. Sadly, I couldn't play it because my computer at the time didn't have a CD-ROM drive.

  • I don't think Myst was one of the best adventure games at all,. and it spoils every one of you 86 videos by having this among them. Sure,. Myst sold a lot. But this was only really in the USA.With the game having little impact in Europe. Also, it was not part of a genre as it was a game style all of it's own.If it had created a genre around it, that might have made a difference, but it didn't and it has become an anachronism in the history of gaming. This is here because it sold well. in the US

  • myst worlds are so surreal and obscure, great to wander around on ur own from time to time

  • ive been obsessed with this game since I was a kid. kinda let down now, that i know you can beat it in a matter of minutes. also, the steam version of myst and riven work great on vista and 7.

  • I didn't play video games from 1991-1999, but I subscribed to PC Gamer in 2000 and they were really harsh on Myst.

  • @MarcoFriendino got that right the worlds are so huge and expansive.

  • I'd recommend the Case Book games if you're into FMV. They're doing some interesting work for sure; just played III and enjoyed it, though of course the level of puzzles aren't anywhere close to Myst.
