Clinton to visit Myanmar as conflict rages in the north

Myanmar is preparing for a visit by US secretary of state Hillary Clinton this week. The visit is seen as a sign that the previously reclusive nation may be starting to open up.

But the visit means little to those fighting for their basic rights in the north of the country. Al Jazeera obtained exclusive footage of the fighting.

Yeah all sides in the Burmese civil war has traded with drugs for a long time...long at the Shan warlord Khun Sa...I wonder what he was doing with 1000 tons of heroin.

I do not blame them for this since they are probably doing it to fund their army and survive.

During the Second Sino Japanese war, the Chiense nationalists and communists grew opium and sold it to the west to fund their war....so did the Japanese.

I am not saying that Kachin do not need help from outsider. We need alot of support from internationally or domestically too. Kachin just want to show that we have the system that can run our own state. Ofcoz we kachin army use china made weapon or els what do you guys expect, USA? RUSSIA? NORTH KOREA? its not important where you weapon comes from but having a good system of governing you own people is the most important. Most of weapon from KIA are local made. Everyone knows that.

Some people are saying that Kachin Army people dress very nice and with chinese made weapons. Well KIO is the government to all Kachin people and KIA is the defense army for Kachin people. KIO have many departments like Education, Economic, Civil Defense and other things that a state government should have. If KIO is not well formed than they are not good enough to ask for autonomy from the government. We Kachin can manage our own future without under central GOV. That's why Kachin are best.
