This Journal dates from my time in Maine, around 2002 to early 2003. This is a sketch book that I would work in, tear out pages, and sell them. At the time I was very poor and had just started to sell items on eBay so many of the pages of this journal are hanging in living rooms across the globe the average price the pages sold for was $50, a lot of money to me then, at the time it determined if my electric bill was paid and if I would buy groceries that week. As poor as I was at the time I was very happy. I loved spending all my time making art and seeing it. It really opened my eyes to the process of selling my art and made me see that art as much as it means to me is as much of a quantity as anything else, and though I could be in love with my work, that love need food and the bills to be paid. This is a cheap sketchbook wit paper from nepal, the binding was terrible and I had intended to rebind it but when I went to tear it apart it was bound with some sort of brittle and non-reversable glue, hence the sliding area in the back.
