That Stanley Urwin was their biggest mistake. Might've been a stoned idea in the first place, but it became a dire bloody drag to get through all that "charming" cockney yapping on "NUT GONE".Still a classic, but as a result became the least played of their albums.Probably even more so,in the U.S.. a market which they obviously would've liked to have cracked.Confused Steve went totally overboard with bloody "bluesrock" to get the Yanks onboard.Which deservedly so,went out like a candle, around'76.

Lost a bit of his manic charisma there already, might've been "clean",could've laid a bit more off the booze though. Other than that,,,it's a bloody shame he hadn't witnessed the Small Faces'royalties scam be resolved. He truly deserved it.

Has there ever been as meaningless a job as a TV presenter?
-
@ultraroadmap ....she looks more like Boy George in drag, if that's possible.

@bobyoung53 That was the case in America . SF ' s were pretty big in the UK
Steve Marriots tenacity has followed him and will always be remembered in his guitar playing and his unique voice. He is without doubt the founder of the British blues movement . He is without a doubt a legend and should be recogninsed as such

@lisalmitchell No one here is criticizing Steve's talent. He was the finest rock singer Britain has ever produced but he's reduced to talking to this foolish twit in a Boy George getup and not even allowed to play on the show because they thought him as old as Stanley Urwin. A tragic figure. Even now. 20 years after his death, he's finally being considered for induction into the the R&R Hall of Fame, but if he is voted in, it will be Rod Stewart standing on the stage that night, not him.
