How to catch an escaped koala...NOT!

We try to give the koalas as much freedom as their treatment will allow - sometimes this means that they 'jump ship' and escape their yard. Here, a volunteer is attempting to rescue an escaped koala (in the rain) in order to return him/her to the correct yard. However, the koala has other ideas and scampers well out of reach!

@45vincentconnolly Actually, vollies say "let's just wait till he gets a bit lower", or they put in a koala trap around the tree - kind of like a mousetrap only bigger! They've got to come down some time!

I'm not sure what treatment this particular koala was receiving as I was just a visitor that day (taking my family around during the Christmas holidays). Koala patients have their own yard (usually) to prevent any sort of cross-infection. It's a bit like having a patient in a hospital out of their own bed and in someone else's! We need to keep track of where they are and ensure they are in their own yard.

@koalawrangler Heh! I am always amazed at how the usually docile and placid koalas can display great agility and jumping skillz when they want to.
