A Black Italian

@RobMackenzie besides @ their peak in the 1960's Frankie Valli & the 4 Seasons sounded sharp & electrifying in the early 1970's. we fans are still waiting for Motown to release 40 + tracks that are locked in the vault. we don't know if they'll ever be released.

I always really loved Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons. When this came out in about 1971 it sounded like they were trying to sound more modern/commercial instead of doing their old stuff, so I didn't like it much. Hearing it again for the 1st time in 38 years it sounds much better now than then. They're so great.

I apologize. You did say MOST of those labels. The Four Seasons hit big after signing with Vee-Jay Records of Chicago, which was a Black owned label and run by, I think, Ewart Abner. And yes, at first, most D-Jays thought The Four Seasons were Black.

Notice I said most of those music labels. Ask anyone in the music biz. Oh, you can't.

The mob never bankrolled Frankie Valli! Take that one to the bank, jerk!!
-
@jsanch22 Their sound became popular because the mob bankrolled most of these labels.
