I just happenned to see that Bokmål is classified in the same linguistic Germanic branch as Danish, but Nynorsk is classified along with Icelandic and Faroese. If they are the same language why are they classified in different linguistic branches? That's what I don't get.

@MrBastilleCreole Nynorsk is, as icelandic and faeroese, also german languages. They have evolved like this:

Danish out of german

Bokmål/Nynorsk out of danish,

And then icelandic and faeroese out of nynorsk. So nynorsk and Bokmål are very alike :P

I'm lucky to be French, we also have those masculine, feminine and object pronouns. Easier for me to know the genders.

@Shleague Yes, you are lucky! But in fact, not so very lucky... Since norwegian genders are different from the french ones, it can be confusing after all :)

@hcomyt It depends on the dialects. I say it like "ei", but many others say it like "Æi".

this is going to be a little hard for me, In spanish we have only two of this pronouns, "un" for masculine and "una" for feminine... now I know how hard is for other people to learn spanish and now I know how I'm going to sound when speaking in front the norwegians ... like a retarded xD

I don't understand one thing: What's a dialect for you? I just don't get it, what's Bokmål and what's Nynorsk? For me (French/Colombian) a dialect is a difference in intonation, words, and pronunciation and we still understand each other, but Bokmål and Nynorsk are like different languages (in different linguistic groups), being both Norwegian =S.Please explain me, because I'm very confused? Wouldn't a "Norwegian dialect" be consider to be a different language more than a dialect? Thank you. ^^
