The JazzMutant Lemur has many possibilities of controlling the built in objects from external sources. In this example Ableton Live is transmitting audio to a MaxMSP pluggo, which in turn translates the volume of that audio into OSC feeding sliders on the Lemur.

These sliders are dynamically updated with the volume of the audio, both by setting the value of the slider, and modulating the light.

The sliders represent the beat and the bassline, and the volume refleced in them is from the track they are controlling. If that wasn't enough the sliders can still be used to control parameters of Ableton Live, in this case a lowpass filter on the drums, and a hpf/delay combination on the bass.

  • Oh i see. Bling is 95% of a performance anyway ;)

  • hej Bjarke :-)

In the video I am using max to control the lights on the Lemur - this is done by converting audio levels to light values that the lemur understands. Live can't do this translation on its own, but in this case the visual feedback is mainly "bling", anyway ;-)

  • Nice video, great mix. Why are you specifically using Max? Couldn't the same be accomplished with Live? Or do you need to use Max for the Lemur, or is there something i don't know about Max that makes it fantastic? Don't have a Lemur yet so i'm very interested in it ;)

  • Thank you kind sir - means a lot coming from this general direction - computo is the man who twisted my arm into getting MaxMSP/Jitter. I am humbled in the presence of your Greatittudinesses.

  • Way to go Brother!
