You are absolutely correct, we need to eventually switch to 100% renewable energy/fuels. However, I think the most pressing issue right now is just for our nation to be energy INDEPENDENT. Get off foreign sources of energy. Once we are energy independent, then we focus on only renewable sources of energy.

Natural gas is not renewable. If you are serious you need to search out something that doesn't come from the ground.
