READ DESCRIPTION FOR INFO PLEASE

This happened on November 4th in Mexico City when a Learjet 45 XC-VMC with 8 people on board arriving from San Luis Potosi, MX got into landing pattern after a Mexicana Airlines Boeing 767-300 flight 1692 arriving from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Behind the XC-VMC was flying a Mexicana Click Fokker 100 flight 7225 arriving from Oaxaca MX, which landed with no problem at all. The plane disappeared from radar at some point between SMO VOR and Plaza ADF where left turn for final approach to runway 05 is performed.

All people on the plane perished and so far 6 on the ground have died also. 40 remain hospitalized.

Since important Mexican politicians, as the Secretary of Goverment came on board of the crashed plane and also a former anti-narcotics chief commander everybody think it is a conspiracy thing, motivated by the feelings of political problems and war on drugs who is currently terrifying Mexico. Of course most of these people have no idea about wake turbulence. Investigations have not concluded but so far practically Mexicans think this was a conspiracy. It is evident that the wake turbulence might have been the cause, I say might have been because no official report has been emitted.
Some people said the plane had smoke before crash but this has not at all been confirmed.
Investigators from the States and England and Learjet have come to investigate the scene and some parts of the plane have been taken to the US for further analysis.

UPDATE November 7th- Government authorities have said that it might have been a "controller mistake" for not alerting the learjeat of heavy traffic before him. The controllers Union answered by saying that he indeed instructed the Learjet to reduce speed to 180 knots.

UPDATE NOVEMBER 8,- Authorities have stated that there is no evidence of any explosion previous to the crash based on the fact that all parts of the plane fell down in a very small area. They also said that both engines were powered at a very high engine power. They also claim that wake turbulence is not likely to be the cause since distance of 4 miles that according to them Jeppesen manuals instruct for safe distance of a learjet behind a 767.

UPDATE November 12.- (el universal) US Embassador in Mexico, Antonio Garza, has stated that the authorities of the US and NTSB have communicated to him about the first conclusions of the investigation. He said the conspiracy hypothesis and also the sabotage hypothesis have been eliminated, and that everything directs to an aweful accident. Mexican aviation authorities are still working on the case, but practically all the investigation is being carried out by the NTSB, which will emit results as they come up.

  • what about the helicopter that passes in between just as the small jet vanishes.

  • It's the main focus of study for the conspiracy theorists.

  • Do prevailing winds not blow the wake turbulance out of the path of the aircraft following?

Just a little wind is enough to blow it out of the path.

    Thank you.

  • @buybushcheap because in Mexico they speak spanish....That´s why! Or do you expect a spanish speaking ATC and a spanish speaking pilot to talk in english??

  • Weird. When I have flown around Baja, mostly talking to Mazatlan control, most of the conversations are in English. In fact I can't think of having heard a frequency in Mexico with non stop Spanish. Why so much Spanish in Mexico City?

  • I can tell you right now that was no wake turbulence!!! The aircraft in question was far gone and there was another aircraft crossing its path before the Lear that crashed.

  • cant be real. the universal language is english and they have to speak it

  • THEY SHOT IT DOWN!

  • @TeenAviator Well, I guess the "teen" aviator doesn't yet realize that VOR codes are duplicated in different countries around the world. Sorry, buddy, but your inexperience is showing.
