Note:
One of the most frequently asked questions I get on this video inquires to why I didn't use Batman's line, "Because I've heard it before, and it wasn't funny the first time", after the Joker's dialogue. The reason I excluded this line is because the addition of Batman's voice would have lessened the impact of the Joker's words. I wanted to leave the audience unsettled at the video's conclusion and I think that the line would have given the opposite affect.

@MyWilliam1996 Long story short: The treaty that ended WW1 loaded Germany with a ton of debt and crashed their economy. Almost the entire document was blaming Germany for the war and making reparation demands and humiliated Germany. The economic collapse of Germany allows Hitler to rise to power on the platform of a proud Germany and this hyper nationalism brought on by the war debt leads to the second world war. It's more complex than that, but not much. Point is Joker is right.
