@localdog lol Same here. I was thinking that it's a "How to" video. Glad I was wrong.

*Whew* Relieved to hear your opinion of the alpha rollover, I came on here prepared to call you all kinds of nasty names... lol. Great job, keep up the good work!

Thanks for this video! I was so afraid when I saw it come up that it would be yet one more person thinking this was a great technique. All your reasons to avoid it are sound and I'm glad someone is out there telling people to stay positive and don't punish our dogs!

i agree, i tried this on my dad;s dog and she went nuts! she never responded well even if you held her for like 5 min! i did not have positive results with that and feel bad for reading it and listening to that advice.

When first watching these videos about Alpha Rolls. Is it ok to take a puppy in play to roll your dog over? Now this discipline technique would never work cause he loves it so much he sleeps on his back.
-
I like how you promote , gentleness and firmness rather than physically restraining them.

So true! Very good advice.
I'd never try a real rollover with my GSD. He's a tank on four legs.

@LeatherCladVegan Because I wanted to question why Eletendre used the term pack leader like Cesar Millan in a non-confrontational way. If the terms are synonomous in your house, fair enough. But when they are vague terms used by the likes of public figures like Cesar Millan, I have a problem with it! Theories of canine 'pop'-psychology is what we know and has been proven by many independent people...we owe it to dogs to use methods that are in their best interest.
-
...if you knew the answer, why did you ask the question? And besides; they are synonymous in my house, all canine pop-psychology references aside.

Respond to this video...Leader is the chosen word for relationship between human and dogs at the moment. Pack leader is not used because we don't really form packs with our dogs- we're different species, which means a lot. The popular, Hollywood dog behaviourist Cesar uses all these vague terms, as well as disproven ones such as 'dominance' etc., so that was what I was getting at. I like Eletendre but this video suggested he too accepted the pack theory, which I question.
I love all your videos, but want to ask you why you use the term 'pack leader', like a someone else :P! In my mind, I don't live with my dogs in a pack- if you have a large group of dogs, yes, this can be referred to as some kind of pack, but not for me and my dog only. I find these very vague terms that have no real premise. 'Leader' is slightly better, but still quite an idealistic and sensationalist notion IMO.

COMPLETELY agree with every single word. The alpha roll is a brilliant way to get badly bitten, and not much else.
