This amateur footage was taken watching from Meadowhall Shopping Centre car park in Sheffield, as the iconic Tinsley Towers are finally brought down to rest in the grounds of the former Blackburn Meadows power station.
One of the 76-metre-high towers is located just 9 metres from the southbound carriageway of the M1 motorway and beneath it the Tinsley Viaduct as they cross the Don Valley between Sheffield and Rotherham, making the controlled explosion particularly risky and causing the motorway to be closed from 11pm on Saturday 23rd August until up to 8pm the following day.
The demolition took place at 3am BST on Sunday 24th August 2008.
