ive got a theory the reason its spiked is to help collect moisture from the air the same way the cactus plant does.

@greenrxseven its a reptile reptiles dont have permiable skin and if it did it wouldnt be out in the open hot sun. It would try out very fast and die. Most of the water it gets from is actually from the ants it eats. The ants provide other micronutrients and micronutrients to help it sustain its health. But it will take advantage of dew and other water in the outside world. Their are little grooves on its skin. Its like a water system. The grooves lead to its mouth where it licks in water.
