Paula Lucas lived in the Middle East, where she suffered horrible abuse by her husband. After escaping with her children back to the United States, she realized that no programs existed to assist American citizens wishing to repatriate, particularly women leaving abusive marriages overseas. Starting over in the United States with nothing, Paula established the American Domestic Violence Crisis Line to help American women abroad who are trapped in abusive relationships. This short film by fbi productions, profiling her story, premiered at the Third Annual Volvo for life Awards ceremony in New York in April, 2005. Paula, bless you & your children along with all of those who have suffered & struggled through these horrible issues.
The world needs to hear more, see more, speak more and do more about these bloody, crazy destructive issues! Bless you for going the distance. I too am helping in my own small way. I just got through helping my mother age 90 out of sibling abuse (if you can imagine) & the siblings abused me for helping her. This cycle of abuse is ugly! And it is more common than people think.
