Just buy a cone piece and cut your garden hose for the stem then you have a air tight bong and you can take the cone piece out so no weed falls through the stem when you are trying to pack it that's how we do it hear in Australia anyway.

If you're using it day in and day out, I'm sure it can't be healthy. I've never heard of it causing lock jaw though. But this is primarily a means to an end, not something that should be used repeatedly.
