  • out of the 45 clones how many rooted

  • @toddlse87 - almost all of them.. there's usually a few stragglers or ones that just sit there and won't go for a long time.. usually the only issues with rockwool is over watering which i had problems with at first being used to aero. This method is great for once your clones have started to root and are drinking much more rapidly. Don't try this too early and create a damping off issue or drown them. success rates will go down drastically..

  • how often does it need watering every 24 hours?

Good video and good idea thank you

  • @SharkTheArdvark - sorry about the delay in getting back to you. normally with rockwool when the clones are young you would only water every 2-3 days while they are inside the humidity dome. Once they sprout roots they will use up the available water much faster and you'll need to water every 1-2 days depending on the cubes. The best way to tell is by judging the weight of the tray. The plants and cubes weight very little so water once the tray gets light. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching!

  • I just wanted to clarify that you shouldn't be watering in rockwool for at least 5-6 days after you take your clones... water very lightly on day 6 with a dripper or syringe and then 2-3 days after that you can begin watering this way as the roots develop.. once they're busting out roots transplant or water every 1-2 days as needed.. I didn't make that clear and wanted to give everyone a heads up.. don't over water your clones, or any plant for that matter.. thanks for watching!

  • why cant they stay in the water tray? kind of like a hydroponic system that is constantly surrounding the roots.

  • @Fatpaq - I wouldn't recommend leaving the water in the tray for any long period of time without some form of air stone or something in there to aerate the mix. While it might be possible it would most likely be too soggy for the plants to really thrive in rockwool.. drying out slightly in this medium is actually a good thing as it forces the plants to push roots further outward in search of water. If they sit in the water they may damp off or get rot of some kind. Aeroponics would be better.

  • Unfortunately they need water to the LEAF at this point since they don't have a root system to drink. Thats a method i can't see working very well.

I simply mist my leaves and put a few drops on the rockwool every 48hrs and we are gold. I also only take LARGE clones from up high on the mom usually

  • @mpamphsloggi Which sort?

  • is using distilled water a good idea??

  • @Phatbiker1 Hey Now, drop by my channel and hopefully you can pick up some info...Been batting 1000 in regards to clones... Good luck..

  • Nice job.....One of the better videos...

  • dude, thats definitly NOT faster than a water wand. pulling it out, putting it back draining..... it is cheaper though.

  • tap water works just fine u dont need all that ph level crap, just a wast of money

  • Strange this guy does not mention "misting" ?! Clones to start with have no roots to absorb water so need moisturing 2 or 3 times a day via a fine spray over the leaves (mega diluted sea-weed is good). Only when they have grown "baby-roots" can baby start drinking directly from its baby roots.. 75 degrees heating is best for clones (INSIDE the humidifier) and "cool white" flourescents are best at the baby stage, and as she grows so should the lumens increase in time to that new growth etc.
