The panel discuss the suitability of Sarah Palin for the role of VP, and whether her nomination will help or hinder the cause of getting more women into parliament.

"Q&A wraps its debut season with a cracking line up to take your questions. Join Australia's longest serving Treasurer and soon-to-be civilian, Peter Costello, Minister for Health and Ageing Nicola Roxon, former leader of the Australian Democrats, then a Labor MP and now an academic, Cheryl Kernot, author and journalist, David Marr and former editor of the Op-Ed page of The Australian and a former Liberal adviser, Tom Switzer as they give us a closing show to remember."

  • Actually, when Costello was asked what he thinks of Palin being a heart bet away from the leadership, he should've just said, well we've had Julia Gillard as acting PM about ten times now this year, so nothing would frighten me.

  • I just don't get people like this! Why do they feel that they can condemn her and act like they are the smart ones and the " all knowing" ......??? As if they have never messed up on their interviews? I give more respect to people, I guess. I really don't think they are funny...................

  • @Crosseyedpresident Yes and I'd just like to add now what a piece of shit the Governor General is for not sacking this government.

  • @germanicelt hehe, 2 years ago someone is making a joke about how terrifying Julia Gillard is as Acting PM. If only everyone knew...

  • this was before they had heard of bachmann...........

  • @berrygrower well the main issue is that she is in the running to become vice president so she has alot of skepticsism on her

  • the al gore internet shit is a load of crap. he was involved in the beginnings of the internet program between universities and that was all he claimed

  • yeah so aboriginals have it sweet right. i suppose it becomes a question essentially of whether or not the welfare state has helped or hurt. it's not a question many people want to think of, but it is very relevant in this conversation. you can say the australian government seems to do a lot to help. the question then becomes is what they are doing really helping?

  • well said. it surprises me that you have thumbs down and this idiot your responding to has thumbs up. apparently if you are 'white' you are meant to believe that aboriginals have it good.

  • Tom Switzer should have won Liberal preselection for Bradfield as evidenced by the way he performs here, a brilliant, articulate speaker. Instead they parrachute in the extremely bland factional hack Paul Fletcher.
