This is all that remains of the big LA City oil field located in downtown Los Angeles, discovered in 1892 by Edward Doheny and ushering in the oil boom in Southern California. All the other wells have been plugged and abandoned, except this one located in an urban neighborhood near Alvarado and 3rd. According to the state's 2007 report, this well produced about 1,450 bbl of oil last year. At that rate, it can't be much longer before it's gone.

  • negative you better take a gander at 14th & broadway, the st. james lease in downtown la plus allenco energy over b the college off adams knuckleheads

  • @davknz Those are other oil fields - Las Cienegas and LA Downtown. This is LA City, a different field than the ones you mentioned. Those are in the city of Los Angeles, but not in the same field I'm talking about here.
