Do you have thousands of plastic bags under your kitchen sink, like a giant pillow? You want to recycle, but most recycling centers actually send plastic bags to China, a landfill if their dirty, or "downcycle" them into lower quality products, like lumber or carpeting. So what can you do with them?
Make rope! It's as simple as braiding hair. The finished rope in this video was tested with 500lbs of weight. It didn't stretch much. This simple activity will turn those useless plastic bags into something that will at least keep them out of a dump for a little while.
Thank you so much! This was really helpful. Your cheerful disposition was enlightening and entertaining as well.

This rope is much stronger than you would imagine. I once made it with a high school class and had three football players tie one end to a staircase and three of them swung from it. I estimate the three students weighed 450-500 pounds. The rope stretched a little, but held them well.
