@televisionninja that looks like the 770 (not the shorter S model). I just went out and measured it; the main trung of the stand is about 9 inches, and then the top tilter adds about another 3 inches. So the lowest you could get it is about 12 inches above the bass drum, which is reasonable to keep large semi-loose rides from hitting the bass drum. Keep in mind too that if you mount it more on the side of the bass drum, the cymbal will sit lower. It also telescopes up about 8 inches more.

@DrumWorkshopInc I found a picture of the DWSM770S online at bit(dot)ly/myOWgR but it looks a little high. Do you know if the height is adjustable or is it already set? Thanks a lot for the quick response.

@televisionninja this is not designed to support a ride. It's much better for small percussion accessories. What you are looking for is our DWSM770 or DWSM770S (shorter version). You can find them here dwdrums(dot)com/factoryaccesso
ries/cymbalholders(dot)asp in the Stand Accessories section. If you live in the US, you can buy them online, or order them from any authorized DW Drums dealer. -
Will this support a ride? If not, do you have a product available that will? My goal is to mount my ride cymbal on my kick drum like an old Slingerland (a la Buddy Rich). This is similar to the DW Buddy Rich Limited Edition Kit.

Didn't LP develop this clamp? I remember this being an LP creation b/f DW bought them out.
I've got one on the way, will try it on Yamaha Maple custom hoop, see what happens.
It looks like i might have to square up the claw part, don't know I'll look at it when I get it, post results.
You can turn a bass drum into a giant floor tom using 3 of these and adding floor tom legs. IT'S AWESOME!!!!

I know it's not supposed to damage a DW hoop but I would be worried mounting a cowbell. I would think that there would be some movement on the hoop while clanging away on a large cowbell.
Maybe it's just me... :)

@xenoht Great question! We tried larger sizes also with great results. Of course it is up to you in the end but we have not have any complaints with larger bells so far.
