@ 0:28 you can see him move but the Spider doesn't. He is actually afraid of Spiders which is why they needed a body double here.

why doesn't he stand up while the spider is on him? just stand up, pick it up and put it out of the room. and lock the room.

Many tanantulas are non-poisionus. They are venomous (will hurt you), but not lethal, especially the red-kneed variety.
Even so, the idea of Connery being in bed with a spider he's scared of is pretty daunting.

@tannerrox99 Yeah I believe that's actually true. At least it's pretty good for the whole movie because it was realistic. Pretty sure any 007 would want to avoid a Tarantula at all costs.

Notice Connery Sweating when the Tarantula appears? That was not his acting. He actually had Arachnophobia. He was scared of spiders. I heard it was a pain in the ass for the crew to get him in bed with a fearsome looking Tarantula. (Braden again) PS I'm afraid fo spiders too :0
