This is my first complete flight using the default Flight Gear Cessna Citation X. This is a fairly short flight from San Francisco to Oakland. I chose these two airports because I live in the Bay Area, and because the scenery that came with the download package is this Area.
As for why I'm playing around in Flight Gear instead of FSX:
Around the third week of December 2009, the laptop I had FSX installed had a hard drive head crash. For the time being, I installed Ubuntu 9.10 on the laptop since I got a replacement hard drive at my aunts house. And that's why I am using Flight Gear for now.

A viewer once asked: "How do you get the plane to move? lol only just start playing, and how do you land this thing."
And here is my response:
Okay, here are a few tips for you: First, if you are unfamiliar with flight dynamics, go take a quick look at how flight control surfaces work on wikipedia. To start the plane, go to the menu at the top, and under Citation-X, it says "Autostart." Disengage the parking brakes by typing Shift+B. If you have a joystick, then the you should know the basic controls work. To advance the throttles, hold page up, and to close the throttles, hold page down. Flaps are [ / ] for retract/extend.
Extend the flaps 2-3 notches for takeoff, and rotate around 120-130 knots. Retract the gear by typing G. To use the mouse as the yoke, right click once. To view the space around you, right click again, and the view will follow your mouse. Right click again, and your mouse will not do anything. Remember to retard the throttles a bit for cruising power. Once you have found your place to land, extend full flaps and the landing gear (by typing shift G). Keep the plane above 100 knots.
If you go too slow, the wings will not generate enough lift and the plane will stall. Try to maintain no more than -1000 ft/min on approach, and touch down gently by the large white area on the runway (unlike what I did in the video). Once on the plane has touched down, you can activate the brakes by holding b. Pressing Delete to engage reverse thrust and then page up. Rudder is 0 and Enter on the keypad. This was a quick summary of how to fly a plane in FlightGear and I hope it helps.
Thank you for a very interesting and informative video. I've been wondering about trying FlightGear and your work here has helped me make up my mind. I will definitely give it a go.

is a joystick a must?

@tigreslokos No, you can fly with the mouse. You would want a joystick for an easier experience.
