My first trip to Parham to try and fly the South Downs Ridge from Butser Hill to Lewes and back a few times. A big thank you to the South Down Gliding Club for their warm welcome and briefings on where to go, so we could get the most out of the day! And thanks to my DSGC accomplices who managed to sweet talk their way into making the last minute chance of awesomeness happen.

  • Fantastic quality...makes my vids look like they are on VHS! Out of curiosity what camera did you use and how did you mount it?

  • @andrew270400 Hi Andrew, it's a contour HD 1080p, I made an aluminium bracket which has 3 suction cups which hold it to the glider and taped for extra protection, 4:32 battery lasts a little over 3 hrs with a 16 gig micro sd card.

  • Great Vid. Hope you enjoyed the ridge, I enjoyed it on Monday in the SGC LS4.

  • @glider12000 looking forward to another NE windy day!

  • what's more fun flying this or a 742F?

  • @xraydog0 Glider flying is definitely more fun and quite often more challenging!

  • Watch out for the model gliders please - we all get the right hump with full size as we cant hear them coming until its too late ! - Looking forward to trying this in 2012 ! - another good video from you - keep it up !

  • As someone who used to fly Paragliders and is looking at getting into Gliding I have one question.

How are gliders able to fly on the ridge below the top of the ridgeline (2.29 on the video)? Is the ridge lift that good on a Glider that you can do this and will always gain more height? If I was in a Paraglider in that situation I would be looking for somewhere to land ASAP!!!

  • Hehe, I recognise that runway.

  • Yet again I have been moved to tears by the beauty of your art.

I am a firm believer in that adage "you only get what you give"....

  • This or the 747 classic? :P

  • hey thanks for inviting me dude!!

  • @mightbemac Glad you like it. Did 3 and a half laps of the ridge so about 480km's mostly between 500 and 1500 feet above the valley floor.

  • What a hill ride !!! Amazing, the constant drift is obvious.

    Nice song too..

    Great !
