the pictures actually come from the cd, which come with the book called Introducing 3ds Max 9 for Beginners.

since the pictures come from this book, i can't just provide the link directly for the pictures, please try to borrow the cd from your library, which is actually what I did

It's much better, easier and accurate modeling with planes, just extrude edge after edge and you'll get far greated detail and is 10x easier than doing so. Also you got the blueprints setup wront. Its way to streched.

if you want blueprints search between the 40100 prints in the-blueprints(dot)com ;)
