We made the summit of Byers Peak on August 8th 2011. The elevation is 12,804 feet above sea level. LESSON: just because a peak is NOT a 14er does not mean it's not hard. This video was actually taken a little ways back down from the summit for safety reasons. From here we descended almost all the way back down to the truck before Cody discovered the trail to Bottle Peak. There was a path from the ridge line of Byers Peak to the Bottle Peak Pass that could have saved us all a lot of time, but where would the challenge be in that?
