My husband is saving for a special item and he has repeatedly asked me to give him cash in lieu of gifts so he can save up faster (I find this very sweet and responsible). I think this is a clever idea for Christmas because just giving cash in a card is rather dull and unimaginative.

I love your idea :-) I am always looking for unique ways to give the kids money. Last year, for one of our boys, we cracked walnuts - took out the nut - put in a folded up bill and glued it back together. He had to crack a whole bag of nuts (couldn't tell which had money and which didn't :-) to get his loot.

cute idea, but I bet there would be some disappointment when the recipient saw the phone pages behind the bill! lol!
