Serenity in Minecraft

A short video showing off my latest Minecraft build...Serenity. The ship itself was built out of a variety of materials and I edited a version of Gerudoku's texture pack to suit my needs. Yes, I know, doing a full burn in atmo is risky, but I had to chance it for the coolness factor.

Using screenshots I took from the show in addition to a few shots I swiped from a Google search I built block-by-block and tried getting as much detail as possible while still maintaining a properly scaled version. I hope it's at least recognizable. In the future I may decide to do the interior, but I'm taking a breather from this project for now to work on other things.

Unfortunately lowering the bay doors with Pistons would require way to much effort. And as for mods, Well I'm a Mod addict. I love some of the content people add. The one I think you would like is Called Red Power. It adds a ton of Redstone circuits that are just one block(like Nor and RS latches and Timers) and adds colored lights. It also has a hidden feature that lets you create 1/8th blocks and Panels. Once I get a PC that can FRAPS and play MC I'm gonna do a mod spotlight.

@Chromethous RE the bay doors, I know. It would require a mod to do it, and I'm not really the mod enthusiast of the bunch. I try to do as little modding as possible with my builds, actually. In fact this marked the first time I ever "cheated" a bit by changing the texture pack.

@Forrest40PF Yes, once I had the shape of the main structure the way I wanted it I hollowed out the inside. In the future I may do the interior, but it depends on whether or not I can do it in a way that it would look at least semi-decent. At this scale it might be doable, but I'm too picky about my work.

@miwright21 I'd love to feature this with the zeppelin mod, but, as you said to awkward, it's not public anymore. I always give credit, as do you, I hate credit stealers. But, yeah, I'd do the inside for you, just email me a blueprint, and I'll turn it into an airship, then you have a real serenity. I don't watch firefly, so I'd need a blueprint for the interior. Also, I'd even TRY to make a server and put it on there, creating a firefly minecraft series.

I saw the film a long time ago but i never saw the show up until 4 days ago. I watched the entire seriese and the film in less than a week. I love you for making this video.

Well this is definitely the most accurate Minecraft Serenity I've seen, at least from the exterior. That must have taken forever. Good job!

@Chromethous Not using redstone to power those lights, no, not until that sort of functionality is built into the game rather than using mods. The main engine is retextured glowstone and the thrusters are retextured lit Jack-o-lanterns. I DO want to be able to lower the cargo bay door at some point...

Awesome Mike! are you using Redpower for the Lights in the engine and thrusters? only thing is there needs to be a mod or something that will let you spin the main engine and lower the bay doors..
