Langley, BC: This is the entrance to a Yellowjacket Underground Nest in my backyard. The nest looks the same a what you would normally observe, only underground. I was stung at different times while mowing the lawn in Langley, BC. After a severe reaction to the last venomous sting [4 days recovery] I was forced to carry a EpiPen to counter any future stings and reactions. Appearently these stings have a compounding effect, I never thought it could happen to me. "We carefully located the nest as shown in video". Anaphylaxis is a severe allergic reaction marked by swelling of the throat or tongue, hives, and trouble breathing. When it strikes, life is at risk. A sting to the neck can cause swelling to the point of suffocation. The EpiPen injection provides immediate relief of swelling, but for only 20 minutes; enough time to get to a hospital? If you are in the wilderness, perhaps train yourself or partner to perform an emergency tracheotomy with your swiss army knife, Tracheotomy is a surgical procedure on the neck to open a direct airway through an incision in the trachea (the windpipe). Don't forget to bring some whiskey to ease your pain, and a straw to insert into your windpipe!

  • Leave them alone, and they'll leave you alone...

  • this reminds me of my Grandma (I consider her mom) and she's been stung before with no signs of allergies until she mistakenly disturbed a hive and got attacked. After that she was allergic. I hate the fact that you see these things nests above and below ground, it's really annoying.

  • And whats worse is I didn't know he was alergic ti bee stings and the area's he was stung swelled right up so his wife had to rush him to the hospital. He's really pissed off at me now. But what could I do? I panicked and wanted to get away from the constant stinging. Plus he never told me about his alergy. I feel really bad now. And sore.

  • I was mowing for a friend who's sick today and unfortunately I ran over one of these holes with the mower. I didn't notice the hole until right after I went over it and saw several wasps flying out of the hole. I started running but it was too late. They stung me all over. My legs, arms, and head. I ran into my friends house but didn't realize some came in with me. They stung him inside too.
