  • i was just wondering doesn't evolution justify racism because now people could say that certain races of man have evoloved farther than other races of man so some could be supeior to others because there group has evolved farther

  • No, evolution doesn't justify racism or any other normative judgment for that matter. Evolution, true or false, is just a fact about the physical world. It is not a way of life, personal philosophy, or a statement of moral sentiment. It is just a theory about something that has happened in our planet's history. It doesn't have any bearing on what should or shouldn't be done, or how we should act, think, or behave. For answers to these questions you must look outside of science.

  • What's good about "Expelled" is that it is currently making an average of $97.00 per screen on a grand total of 420 screens.

That means only about 12-15 people a day are currently watching it at each theater.

Looks like the 10 million dollar advertising campaign was money poured down the commode.

Not very good performance after only a month.

  • Yes, it is good news that the people involved in producing this propaganda probably lost money. Nevertheless, they still succeeded in getting their "documentary" to be the 12th highest grossing documentary of all time, which means a lot of people have seen it (it even has a chance of making top 10). In other words, despite losing money for the makers, it is still functioning effectively as propaganda.

  • I am not making an argument :/ If one truly knows science, they should know that scientific hypothesis needs to have predictive value and be falsifiable. An designer has 0 predictive value. I have no way to use that hypotheses to predict future observations. It can't falsified, because every apparently undesigned element in organism can be explained by saying "That's how it was designed".

So, ID isn't science, and thoose ID supportes who know about science and claim it is are fucktards.

  • I openly admit that I am biased against Expelled.

I actually believe in things like journalistic integrity and honest discourse. I think that quote-mining and cheap cutting to pictures of Nazis while talking about science are both examples of horrific and morally bankrupt attempts at deception. I think that straight up lies are detrimental to any rational discussion.

Given all of these, is it really that surprising that I am biased against Expelled?

  • If it is a poorly made movie, why would you need to even say so? I'll grant that many may not like the movie, and I'll grant that many may not like the idea that Hitler used evolutionary ideology to paint Arians as a favoured race, but that doesn't negate the fact that actual harassment of academics who question the efficacy of evolution took place. That is its point.

  • @heymatt90 nothing justifies racism.

  • @heymatt90

It wouldn't because we are one species and the difference between races is so incredibly small it could never justify racism, it really is insignificant and anyone who says africans are closer to monkeys or anything like that is dead wrong.

  • This video is just as ignorant as the documentary.

  • Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?

  • well, is there any answers?

  • 1st of all this movie is not for religious fundamentalist as i do not see any religion being preached in the movie so you are wrong there. the movie itself was not about the methodologies of science but it was about the corruption in the political system. In future if you want to criticize something make sure you understand what you are going to criticize.

  • every time i see ben steins fuckface i want to break his bird-nose

  • No, nobody has the answers. Why? Because a person that believes in the truth, doesn't make shit up, which is what a religious person would do. The fact we don't know how it all began for sure, does not indicate that there is a "god" that designed it. It proves nothing. Then, the fact is that the evidence supports evolution on behalf of biology, since there is no proof of a "god". Therefore, evolution should be thought as the primary theory.
