A medical slide-show animation made for a night of music and art organised by Laura Kirby at All Saints Church, Newcastle upon Tyne, in August 2006. This was played before the main act, Diane Cluck.
I owe much of the material to my father, a retired GP, who's medical magazines and textbooks I have been greedily rummaging through since I was a child. As well as being a celebration of medical advancement, this collection presents a history of hideous misconception about cures, criminology, women, childbirth, and mental illness.
Please forgive the occasional blurriness of the images. Unfortunately at this point I didn't have access to a scanner, so at short notice I had to make do with photographing the images from the pages.
The soundtrack is provided by Land of Nod and Transient Waves.
This video is copyrighted Mark Pembrey 2006.
The first two songs are by Land of Nod from the album Colli De Pedona. The third song is Green Acres by Transient Waves.
