Iris tells Mac she just came by to give him the financial report she was working on. He asks her where it is, and she gives it to him, then hands it off to Wendy and Julie Ann for copying and distribution. Mac then ushers Iris into his office and asks if there's anything else. Iris supposes she'll have to pack up her office, but Mac tells her he has already had her office packed, and someone from the mail room can help her carry the boxes out to her car. "Well," Iris says, "I guess that's it, then."

"Yes, that's it," Mac says shortly, opening the door. Iris leaves, and Mac sees Michael outside and invites him into the office. Michael has a report for Mac, but the two men discuss Iris after Mac apologizes to Michael for anything Michael might have overheard. Michael assures Mac that he understands how Mac must feel. Mac says he'll be fine once he gets Iris out of his life. Michael asks Mac what that will mean to him. Mac says it doesn't matter; it can't matter. Mac doesn't know how to be close to Iris anymore, and he can't even be in the same room with her after what she did. Michael tells Mac that he thinks Iris felt all alone in the world, and Mac replies that Iris did that too. Michael continues that in Iris's state of mind, from her perspective, all she was really trying to do was a big gesture to get his attention and his love, and with Mac, it's kind of difficult to think of a gesture big enough to get his attention, because to Iris, Mac is the perfect man. Mac says he is not perfect, and even if he were, for Iris to bring about his downfall just so she could save him was going too far. Michael believes that Iris never meant for Mac to lose Cory Publishing. But Mac asks Michael how he's supposed to forgive Iris for everything she put them all through, not just with the takeover attempt, but with what happened to Amanda, those pictures, and then framing Mac for murder? Michael doesn't believe Iris meant for any of that to happen. Mac reminds Michael that Iris sent Drew Marston to Bay City and he had a free hand. Michael tells Mac that he's right. "If you're asking me to forgive her, Michael, I can't do it," Mac concludes. Michael tells Mac to think about what it will cost Mac, and says that he's saying that from one father to another.

Meanwhile, Evan congratulates Amanda, but she says she just got a new office, not a new job. Evan tells Amanda he thinks she can do anything she puts her mind to, and he's glad to hear that she's not giving up on the article that got them both kidnapped. Amanda says she couldn't give up on it after everything that happened.

Iris then sees her nameplate being removed from her office door, and Amanda's nameplate going up in its place, and she storms in and sarcastically congratulates "Miss Sweetness and Light" Amanda, saying she doesn't waste any time, does she? Iris just came in to move some of her personal things, if that's all right with Amanda, and then Amanda and Evan can get back to their plotting. Iris warns Amanda not to get too comfortable even though Mac must be ecstatic with Amanda right now, because someday maybe Amanda will fall out of grace with Mac and find her life thrown into little boxes and put outside the door. Evan escorts Iris out of the office and away from Amanda.

  • I did not blame Mac for cutting Iris out of his life. As for his will, I assume that he did not have the time to take her out of it.
