- It can take up to 36 hours for your thumbnail to update.
- It will work with all editing software.
- If it doesn't show up in the suggestion box, make your thumbnail even longer before you render it.
- Your specialized thumbnail will not show up in the news feed and smartphones youtube apps.
- If you want to change the thumbnail of an already finished video, you can trim it to get new thumbnail suggestions. However, this is not nearly as effective as following this video tutorial.
- *Important* When you update information on your video, do not use the "Edit" under video manager! Why? Cause for every change you do, it will update your thumbnail with the last thumbnail suggestion in the "trimmed" video. Go to your video and select "Edit info" instead!

Ok the instructions in the description box did not fix the problem. My thumbnail is now something I didn't want.

@Fire18Demon Here's how you fix your problem:

1 - When you make 40-50% of your video a thumbnail image, you WILL get the suggestion to choose your thumbnail.

2 - Edit the video, removing the part were the thumbnail is, as shown in the video.

3 - NEVER go to the video manager again, this will change your video thumbnail to the "edited" video.

This didnt work at all! I couldn't use my custom thumbnail it changed it back to the original one (which looks terrible) once I made the video public. Could u plz make a video showing how to fix this problem?

@Fire18Demon You updated your video through the video manager > edit when making it public...

Go to the video manager, check off your video, go to "actions" right above, and make "public" next time ;)

This doesnt work! After waiting 2 days for it to change to ythe custom thumbnail, it just switched back to the three updated thumbnails and not my custom one.

@Scorch8482 That's supposed to happen, after editing your video the thumbnail suggestions disappear. Check out my response to @Fire18Demon.

@theREALBANANAseed It does still work, I'll make a new video soon using the same concept. Just remember to not update your thumbnail through the video manager. If you don't know what I mean, check out the description.

@CantoSaGamble It should work, but it takes a lot of time before it updates (up to 36 hours). However, if it doesn't show up, it'll most likely do it on the search feature and the suggestion box. Read through the entire description, and if it still doesn't work, contact me.

@JasonVideoGamer Rendering & uploading time on just an image will be completed very shortly. Just make the image file very small and you should have no problems.

this is a great idea but when my video is 30 minutes long i cant make the clip 40% of it. It would take too long to upload it.
