  • You are absolutely sright about Szigeti's musicianship. But I never heard any flaws in Szigeti's technique! And listen to his first recording of the Brahms concerto--miraculous feeling, miraculous technique!

  • I would say that for me Szigeti was among the preeminent musicians of the 20th century; surely Heifetz, Rabin, Kogan, Szeryng, Milstein, and Francescatti had better technique? However, nobody surpassed Szigeti's profound muscianship.

  • I'm afraid I must correct you, Heifetz to my knowledge never played Prokofiev's Concerto #1. Concerto #2 was written for him, and I highly recommend his first recording of it.

  • Thank you for this very interesting recording. There does not seem to be much Szigeti uploaded on youtube. ( Maybe there are, but I do not know how to find them.) Does anyone know if he record the second one too? Also if he recorded Bartok's second?

  • Another definitive interpretation by Szigeti,

demonstating once again why his technique, sensitivity and profound understanding of this

Prokofiev masterpiece made Szigeti the preeminent violinist of the 20th century!
