You are absolutely sright about Szigeti's musicianship. But I never heard any flaws in Szigeti's technique! And listen to his first recording of the Brahms concerto--miraculous feeling, miraculous technique!

I would say that for me Szigeti was among the preeminent musicians of the 20th century; surely Heifetz, Rabin, Kogan, Szeryng, Milstein, and Francescatti had better technique? However, nobody surpassed Szigeti's profound muscianship.

I'm afraid I must correct you, Heifetz to my knowledge never played Prokofiev's Concerto #1. Concerto #2 was written for him, and I highly recommend his first recording of it.

Thank you for this very interesting recording. There does not seem to be much Szigeti uploaded on youtube. ( Maybe there are, but I do not know how to find them.) Does anyone know if he record the second one too? Also if he recorded Bartok's second?

demonstating once again why his technique, sensitivity and profound understanding of this
Prokofiev masterpiece made Szigeti the preeminent violinist of the 20th century!
