The Vanir gods could originally mean 'from Väner lake'. 'Much worshipped around Väner lake'. There are unusually many placenames attached to Odin, Thor, Frigg etc. in the huge area south of Väner lake. Had 50 000 inhabitants already 2-3000 BC. Gepids(geats), and maybe also Vandals could have their origin here. It was gepids that inspired goths to weaponless graves in northern Poland. It was also this area that Jordanes called "the peoples factory", Timoteij is from here, Fame and Friends.
