Till my heart has wasted away, did I suffer.

But here never have I lived a joyful day;
much have I suffered, much have I endured
But never did I complain, never did I cry
because of his treatment of me.
My heart was wasted away, so have I suffered.

The reproach of friends will never heal wounds,
will never bring back the past.
This is the story of my life.

A paradise, high in the sky,
has he drawn for me; and told me
"Let us live there",
I shall have a happy life, I said.
In his own imagination has he built
castles of dreams.
"Nothing is impossible", he said.
I closed my eyes.

When I awoke I found nothing;
nothing but my hopes and tortures awaiting me.
