Our new Pigeon coop that I built from scrap materials.

The Pigeons are now in there new home and are soon going to be pairing up and making baby Pigeons. Soon my kids will be selling young birds to good homes to make spending money. I just finished the upper screened in area when I made this video, the birds were just learning how to go out the roof opening. Think of it........Pigeons mate for life and while they live about 3 years in the wild I heard they can live up to 15 years as pets in a safe environment.......each pair can lay two eggs six times per year. The young birds also start mating at an early age and the whole think snowballs. We will have birds coming out our ears in no time !!!! I am proud of the fact that I built this whole thing from parts and scrap wood on hand. I think the birds will feel safe and set up home , after a month or two I will start letting them out to fly in the open. Now that this is done I can return to my car projects maybe.....it's still really cold out here in the high desert.

I like the ingenuity. I built my coop from scrap around the yard as well. well minus the wire screen and a couple of hinges. With them being able to be on top of the coop with the wire mesh as an open area I don't think you need to wait an entire month to let them out. I waited two weeks for my birds that had already been trained to another home. I just started keeping them in a cage on top of my roof for an hour a day so they could see their loft then feed them as soon as I put them back.

well you will have seriouse problem woith disease because if they will breed it will be ivewr populated and you must clean atleast once a week

They are west of england tumblers bud. you should try to get yourself a couple of birmingham rollers.Far better proformers..They are an english breed too and a smaller breed that can be housed in a small kit box.

That loft is very small it will work I guess. But you should know pigeons multiply like rabbitts and you will have so many they will ALL get sick and die. SO you should build one that you can stand in and seperate the cocks from hen when you don't want them to breed.
