your doctor is right, for someone your size. all of the numbers you showed are out of normal range, but you are not that far. so it will be very easy to get it fixed, just proper diet and exercise and it will be down before you know it. I guess its a good thing i work in the hospital an know alittle bit about this. keept it going graham, you got heart my friend.
sincerely,
Rush

In may 07 i weight 300kg when i start to walk, slow and with breaks, but 1h every day. This i combined with healthy nutrition.after 3 month i raised my time up to 3h every day and i´ve lost the first 100kg.when i reached 150kg i started with cycling up to 6 hours a day ,so after 14month i reached my goal with 100kg today.
Start walking was the best decision in my life!
You´ll reach the 10km very soon.loosing wait is no magic,it´s continuity.very soon it will be fun!
Keep on walking, Graham! :-)

Have you measured how long your stride is? It can vary a lot. I did the 10,000 steps a day too, and when I measured my stride it was 3 miles. Your doing like a 5k twice a day! I got a nifty little pedometer called an Omron it measured steps as well as approximate miles and calories burned. Also it didn't have to be on your belt. I also used a BodyBugg and that thing conformed the Omron was really accurate. WAY TO GO!

I like how your diet is definately a gradual process, unlike some people who go from being completely dormant to attempting to run a mile and get fed up because they can't stand it.

If you want a step counter i have some spares. I see you live is Brissie so i can post it to you. Oh dont forget to increase your water intake, it helps with the hunger, keeps you rehydrated & flushes the body of toxins. xo

Good on ya Graham & good luck with the weight. It's a battle i have been fighting for years too. I will check back from time to time & see how you are doing.

My boyfriend are diabetic, though he cannot lose it by losing weight.. He got it in the 7th grade, even if he wasn't overweight and was in overall good health. I guess it can happen to anyone.

keep it up man im pulling for you
are you sure 10,000 steps equals 10 kilometres
a kilometre is 1000 meters so 10 kilometers is 10,000 meters
equals one step = 1 meter
thats one long step
.....good luck with the weight loss

it depends how tall you are and the size of your step. It is just a guideline for me.

Graham,
Your blood test numbers are of course outside of the acceptable ranges, but they do not seem to really blown out. Probably you are even surprised at that given your size and weight. So I am sure that when you drop back to something even moderately approaching a normal BMI, you blood counts will be well inside normal ranges.

actually Chris my doctor was actually surprised to see my stats so good, for my size.

I have to tell you..I can actually SEE a difference. Your face is thinner.
You didn't mention your HDL number:THAT is the most important value.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and successes. I just know that you have made ALEX very pleased.

here are the other stats.
MEASURED FRACTIONS
HDL(protective)1.30 mmol/L (above 1.0)
LDL(atherogenic)3.62 mmol/L (below 2.0)
Total/HDL ratio 4.5
So my HDl is fine. I just highlighted in my video the ones that were outside the normal range. I hope wherever Alex is, he can see that I am finally changing my life and getting fitter and healthier and reducing my body weight as per his wishes. I promised him I would and I am intend to keep that promise to him.
