Exactly. It was close live. The view everyone saw it from. So like I said, if you read my entire comment the refs at first weren't going to review it. But the Penn state coach was questioning the ref and he finnally decided to review it. As far as reviewing buzzer beaters, this is an NBA rule, but atleast at this time I don't think it was a NCAA rules since the refs debated reviewing it. So Penn state was lucky the refs did review it. And yes, the refs got it right.
Sure it was close when it was live, but when they showed it in slow motion it wasn't even close. Plus they reviewed it because the HAVE to review buzzer beaters at the end of each half.
3:47 is when the clock hit 0.00 he wasnt even at the top of his jump yet
If it wasn't even close, then why did the annoncer scream "yes" The fans flooded the floor thinking it counted. Better yet, if it wasn't even close then why did the refs review it. Yes, it was close.
It's wasn't obvious at all. The refs weren't even gonna review it at first but after a little discussion they felt it needed to be reviewed. In full motion it appears the ball was released before the buzzer and Penn state was lucky it was reviewed. But yes, the refs got the call right.
I am a Penn State fan but c'mon, I'm not gonna deny or doubt the basketball tradition at Illinois. Other things do count besides the national championship. Even just total number of wins for the school alone can determine if the school is a powerhouse. Illinois just has a coach who can't recruit as well as Self did so they have been slipping.

Also when the refs analyzed it further from different angles, they found it was on his finger tips. A lot closer that obvious.
