Don't know much about Kenny Rankin. I think he was popular in the 70s as a singer/songwriter. This is an early appearance doing Fred Neil's "The Dolphins".

  • Thank you so much for posting this rare performance!!! I saw Kenny R. many many times and he always put on a fantastic show.

  • OMG! I love this. Had been searching for this! Thank you so much! This was my favorite song back then! THANKS!

  • I love this video and all of Rankin's music. Walker Valley & the Truckee River are special places to me when I lived out West & I'm sad I can't find Kenny's "Darcy Farrow"....anywhere...till this day! I liked Ian & Sylvia's and John Denver's renditions but Kenny Rankin's, got me to my "ballad bones".

  • this is a rare gem of a clip....something i love to find on YouTube. thanks/

  • Turning such a great song around in this kinda way is nothing but BRILLIANT

    Thanks for uploading!!!!!

  • I had the good fortune to see 4 of his performances in one year back in the 70's in Los Angeles. His 'Kenny Rankin' album arrainged by Don Costa is the perfectly beautiful blend of his soothingly serene voice and majestic treatment of both his own writings and cover tunes...I hope I get to hear him again live in Heaven. A great loss in my mind and in my musical heart.

  • It's music like this, that makes you stop and realize how beautiful life is, and how great it is to just be alive.

    Thanks for posting this gem.

  • So many roads lead back to Fred Neil. Like Bob Dylan, Fred Neil took Kenny under his wing. Silver Morning album is my favorite. miss you Kenny.

  • Yes, a musician's, musician. In the 70's he did a lot of this kind of music, my favorite is "Like a Seed". Wish someone would post it here. I still have the album. But he also went on to play a lot of jazz with Stan Getz and others. Also played the Beatles "Blackbird" at their iduction to hall of fame.

    RIP ...

  • Brilliant artist, what a voice and great jazz talent. Loved seeing him and hearing him. RIP Kenny.
