Mason bees are native pollinators to the United States, unlike honeybees, which were introduced from Europe about 400 years ago. Mason bees are semi-social, with each femail laying eggs individually, but preferring to do so in proximity to other egg-laying mason bee queens. They almost never sting and are active only in the spring and early summer. They don't make honey.
