You do realize that middle class Americans have already received a tax cut as part of the stimulus bill. Not to mention that we're earning profits from the bailed out banks that have repaid their loans, and cracking down on tax evaders by new treaties with Switzerland. If we build this country on a solid foundation, we'll have enough money to provide coverage for those left without a private insurer. Don't forget that illness costs the economy money as well as fixing illness.

Agreed people do love medicare (and have earned it) currently. They do not want benefits cut from it. What BHO has proposed would cut payments to doctors to save money. Should we copy a broken system for everyone to draw from the same well that has gone dry? Where do you think this money is going to come from? U guessed it, taxpayers. Middle class taxpayers. I prefer to have a tax line on the current form, so I can donate (100% deductible) to those who are not covered by any existing option.

Medicare isn't a piece of shit car, it's an awesome car that everyone loves, but it's got pretty a pretty bad mpg rating.

Look throughout history at every time you remove government oversight and supposedly empower people with freedom of choice for necessities. Instead of having government (representing all the people) against the insurance companies, now you have individuals fighting insurance companies. Who has more power in that situation?
