電影《劍雨》里'陸竹'的来历, 禪機的定义。

Is it necessary to go to temple to practise Buddhism? Perhaps it is the peaceful surroundings or maybe the presence of a wise old monk with all the answers to our questions. This type of Zen temple experience is quite aptly personified within this clip from the movie 'Reign of Assassins'.

The following conversation takes place between a lady assassin (Drizzle), trying to find answers and achieve peace within and that elusive wise old monk, so hard to locate in real life. The Buddha achieved enlightenment when he was 36 years old, so in real life a wise person might come in a much younger package. Mind you, she has just stabbed a would be monk (LuZhu) who really cares for her, or so the story goes.

见痴主持：陆竹六岁时就在我这边听讲金刚经，十岁时他投住少林，带​发修佛习武，一住二十七年。 少林众寺僧都许他是少林寺四十年来佛法武功第一。
Abbot JianChi: LuZhu was six when he arrived here to hear my teaching on the Diamond Sutra, he was ten when he went to Shaolin and without ordination, studied martial arts within the temple premise for 27 years. The monks in Shaolin regarded him as par excellance in both Buddhist teachings and martials arts to have studied there within the past 40 years.

细雨：师父，为何他死前说'禅机已到'？
Drizzle: Master, before he died, why did he say 'the window of opportunity has arrived'?

见痴主持：佛祖点化世人讲究机缘，禅机一过，缘即灭矣； 而禅机未到，虽点亦不中。
Abbot JianChi: Buddha can only help those to seek enlightenment only when the time is ripe, when the opportunity is missed, the chance is lost; And if the opportunity has not yet arrived, then whatever effort spent is wasted.

细雨： 那'愿化身石桥五百年 受风吹雨打'又是何意？
Drizzle: Then, what does he mean by "I wished to turn into a stone bridge for 500 years, and to endure the ravages of wind and rain"

见痴主持： 佛陀弟子阿难出家前在道上见一少女，从此爱慕难舍。佛祖问他'你有多喜欢那少女'？阿难回答'我愿化身石桥，受​五百年风吹 五百年日晒 五百年雨打，但求此少女从桥上​走过。'
Abbot JianChi: Before the Buddha's disciple Ananda was ordained, he came across a beautiful girl and from then, fell deeply in love with her. The Buddha asked him "How much do you love this young girl?" And he answered, "I would rather turn into a stone bridge, endure 500 years blown by the wind, 500 years heated under the sun and 500 years ravaged by the rain, so as just in hope that this girl would happen to cross over."

Then, LuZhu must have been very good to you. Live your life well, when your spirit is unsettled, just come and pay me a visit.

这段话刻画出電影《劍雨》里禪意深沉的愛情故事，也肯定了寺庙为定化人心的作用。

This piece of dialogue in the movie 《Reign of Assassin》 encompasses the deep Zen teaching within a love story and perhaps reaffirmed the role of the temple in bringing peace to an unsettled mind.
