While on the auto tour through the battlefields at Gettysburg, PA we came across a demonstration shown in this video. This happened at Pitzer Woods just down the road a little bit from where Pickett's Charge started. We arrived late so we didn't get much explanation. If you go to Gettysburg, I recommend paying for a guide of some sort. We drove around not knowing much. I guess we should have studied more before going there. Oh well. There were hundreds of memorials to see.
I had previously questioned in this video explanation whether or not the soldier dressed in blue was a Union Soldier. A man claiming to be that soldier emailed me saying that the blue uniform is a "Blue/Gray Kersey Shell Jacket. This is a jacket that would of been worn by Maryland Infantry soldiers. I reenact with the 2nd Maryland Comp. C." He says it was a uniform that would have been worn later in the war. I appreciate the information!
