Sorry. I love your cartoons but here, cyclists and motorists each must look behind and to the rear to avoid collisions. There is also serious risk of bike-bike and bike-ped collisions.
The Lusk et al.study of them claiming that they are safe is a junk science.
I have videos about them on YouTube as johnallen1946 and on vimeo as jsallen. Please have a look.
I'm no spandex warrior. I have an open mind and have written in support of some cycle track designs but these are among the worst.
