Well known for its natural beauty, Costa Rica is also graced with an attractive capital city, located in a tropical valley between forested volcanic ranges. San Joses comfortable climate guarantees verdant green parks accented with colorful exotic flowers, and encourages walks along vibrant pedestrian thoroughfares. This Central American gem showcases museums with pre-Colombian art, lively markets, and a beautiful theater next to a charming, friendly plaza. Quaint cafes beckon with fresh brewed Costa Rican coffee. Exciting attractions such as an active volcano and tropical rain forest are just outside the city.

  • doubtless as a natural destination Costa Rica is ok, but as a urban destination San Jose lacks of good infraestructure and urban elements like: good sidewalks, lamps, avenues and world class parks.

  • San José, Costa Rica its a beautiful city. Today, they have new buildings, modern and clean. The Municipalidad de San José, day by day fight against the prostitution, and robbery, and you can see the results in the city.

Alajuela and Heredia are other important cities in Costa Rica, but these are really ugly and unclean. No visit them. I advice you.

  • The locals say is one of the most beautiful countries in the world, when they haven't even seen any other countries, how do they know? I've traveled to many places and I can tell you is not the paradise they say it is, but I guessed if you lived in a bucket of shit, and that's all you know then it must be paradise for them. There are many other places around the world 100 times more beautiful and 100 times more fun, so paradise, I don't think so, they just trying to sell you the idea of paradise

  • @melkyloco I disagree. It's not that terrible, and you seem to be exagerating; not everywhere you see prostitutes, pick pockets, or beggars-it depends on the area like any major city, and the time of the day.

  • not really true at all, Costa rica is a beautiful country. However San jose is the opposite of that. it's an ugly city, full of trash, pick pocketers, more trash, smog from cars and it's cheesy buses crowded, more trash and pick pocketers, dangerous, prostitutes, beggers, more trash. once again Costa Rica is one of the most beutiful places on earth but stay OUT of the capital San Jose. go to the coasts, the rainforest, everywhere else but don't come near San Jose. I warn you. I lived there
