Classic Blues ;-)

@gurrimichi Hola, este cancion esta tocar de Mi pero la guitarra es mas alto. He plays in E but tunes his guitar up almost a whole step. You can capo on el segundo or try tuning your guitar up to match his. I put a little lesson on youtube teaching one of his songs.

I've been actually learning the blues lately instead of just faking it with some boogie woogie and everyone's failed to point out that hopkins uses his thumb and index almost exclusively to play his lines. He's such a bad ass. Got to get me one of them finger picks...must have one lying around somewhere from much short lived excursion into learning the banjo. Gotta love this guy

this is the best music there is! if you love raw blues you might like Rat Stomp :)

Our song Reckless Woman and Searching the Forest have a Delta blues style with slide guitar and fingerpicking

@gurrimichi he played mostly in open minor crossnote the devils tuning for E ebegbe but here it appears he is in e form natural perhaps slacked a bit to e flat perhaps.his cousin albert collins used the same tuning (crossnote) but up in pitch to f sharp then capoed.to catch me go to youtube david raye terraplane or drive it on down

Looks (and certainly sounds) like the guitar is a mahogany body. Cool slotted headstock too :) Hopkins wasn't only a great player, but had good taste in guitars!
-
I love Lightning. Very inspiring to see this.
-
@gurrimichi The guitar is either tuned to E or Eb, this depends on whether the speed of the film recording is accurately timed. However, in order to play along with this video you should tune to Eb.

Senor Hopkins muy bueno!
yo i gotta blues joke... How many bluesfans does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
11. 1 to screw in the lightbulb and 10 to argue about how the original is was better.
